Principles
Sage is governed by five key principles: agility, innovation, trust, integrity and simplicity
- Agility
Life throws up new and exciting opportunities all the time. We refuse to be stuck in our ways. We are open to new ideas, willing to change the way we think and work and enjoy debate. We don’t just react quickly, we anticipate, looking out for opportunities so we are ready when they arise. We encourage our people to make things happen by giving people the freedom to make decisions and support them to use their knowledge and expertise in the right place at the right time.
- Innovation
For us this means a commitment to new ideas and possibilities, to exploring new ways of doing things and striving to stay out in front.
We enjoy challenge, sometimes there is a very good reason why things are always done a certain way. Other times the only reason is that no-one’s found a better way, at least not yet.
We don’t want to follow standards, we want to set them. That means being on the lookout all the time, thinking, questioning, testing.
We encourage curiosity, sharing ideas, listening. We need people who aren’t afraid to be different, ready to admit mistakes and confident to take a chance when they are on to something.
- Trust
This is a very powerful concept - the idea that you take someone at their word and accept and act on what they say without question.
Trust is, in our opinion, the basis for the strongest and most successful relationships. It inspires confidence. Giving the best you can and getting the most out of those around you takes commitment but it creates a far more rewarding environment, built on an outlook where anything is possible and nothing is too much trouble.
- Integrity
We take our responsibilities seriously and we honour our commitments.
We don’t think there should be any difference between saying you’ll do something and actually doing it.
We have firm beliefs about how we will go about our business and we stand by these because it is what our success has been built upon.
Everyone, not just our customers, know what they can expect from us and we aim to always deliver.
- Simplicity
Businesses don’t have time for jargon, complexity, and bureaucracy and neither do we.
We like to keep it simple, make things easy to understand – like our products for example.
This means ensuring the attention to detail is absolutely right and taking the time to stand back and look at the full picture – does it make sense? Does it fit? We like to keep things straightforward and direct. |
